...and After

Now that Igor has passed, here are the "after" shots.  I haven't yet taken the ones from the porch yet, but I'll get them up soon.  And now, comparing the pictures, I realized that I was supposed to be zoomed all the way in for the after shots so they looked the same. :-/  Ah well.  You see more this way.  Also, I've numbered them all the same.

Incoming!

So here are the pictures of surf on Friday.  I had to be extra careful not to get soaked by the spray.

Probably my favorite spot on the rocks.  It's one of those places that seems impossible to get to, but isn't.

This is an ironic picture; it looks so serene, but at the same time turbulent.

I intend to have a picture of me on top of that spire at some point.  It's tricky just to get to its base, let alone the top, though.

I barely got this shot.  I wasn't paying attention when suddenly there was this massive explosion of water.  I quickly pulled up my camera and got this...then had to turn around and shield it. :-/ I didn't get wet though, so it was fine.

Before...

Well.  Here comes Igor.  Hurricanes = a lot of extra work on weekends, and thus a lot less time to take pictures of nature's fury.  Also, a lot less time to upload.  So here I'm going to upload my "before" pictures that I took yesterday evening.  As is (hopefully) obvious I wasn't too concerned about the quality of the image; just so long as it showed the area.  Pictures are as follows:

1-3: Views off our balcony (facing south)
4: View of the Southampton Princess from the end of our driveway.
5: View of our house from same point as image 4...just turned around.
6: View of the golf course (not very good because of setting sun).
7: View up hotel road.  Our driveway is the second one (where pictures 4 and 5 were taken).
8: View down hotel road, pointing towards South Shore Road.
9: View down road leading to Horseshoe Beach (from the hotel).
10: View towards South Shore Road.  Despite not worrying about exposure and composition, this one came out rather well, I think. :)
11: Looking East along South Shore Road while standing in entrance to hotel road.  Yes, that is my shadow.
12: View towards hotel, standing in the middle of the road.
13: View East across hotel road.
14: Hotel.

Surf's Up!

My first blog post in a while that wasn't the weekly pictures.  Yay!  Felt really good to finally go take pictures again.  It also was great to go climbing at Horseshoe again...just a bit more dangerous than usual because the wind, surf, and high tide...normally dry areas suddenly became a place for waves to crash down on, so I had to time my dashes carefully (and jumping down onto a wet rock from 4 feet is risky enough as it is).  So what I've done with these is I've taken a shot that has most of my climbing area in and labeled where all the shots have been taken from, as well as my path there and back (there is red, back is green)

So, without further ado, the pictures!

Week 37

I know, I know...I've been horrible at keeping up with this blog.  But as most of you know I'm more or less drowning in St. Augustine's City of God and have hardly time to breathe.  But at any rate, here are the weekly pictures

Week 36

I know I promised to get surf shots, but Fiona refused to cooperate and insisted on half-striking in the middle of the night and then completely dissipating.  So you get a long exposure of my sofa.  Not a bad compromise, right?  Right?  Okay maybe not.
